How We Curate The Local Gem
The Local Gem is a curated local resource, not an open directory that lists anything. Here is where our information comes from, how we organize and check it, what our verification labels actually mean, and how to reach a real person if something looks wrong.
β¨Who Is Accountable
The Local Gem is built and operated by Deltabyte Technology LLC (DBA The Local Gem), a Texas company focused on the Dallas-Fort Worth beauty and wellness community. A real team maintains the directory, sets these standards, and reviews corrections. If you have a question or concern about any listing or about how the site works, you can reach us at support@thelocalgem.com and a person will respond.
1Where Listing Information Comes From
Listings on The Local Gem come from two kinds of sources:
Public business information
Many listings are compiled from publicly available business information, including Google Business data such as name, category, address, phone, hours, and public Google reviews. These are labeled as unclaimed listings until an owner claims them.
Owner-provided details
When a business owner claims their listing, they can add and correct details such as services, pricing, staff, photos, policies, and booking options. Claimed listings reflect information the owner has provided directly.
Because public data can be incomplete or go out of date, unclaimed listings may be missing details or contain information that has changed. We show clearly when a listing is unclaimed so you can weigh the information accordingly.
2How We Organize and Curate
Curation on The Local Gem means selecting the local beauty and wellness categories we cover, sorting businesses into consistent categories and cities, and ordering results by quality signals rather than by who pays us. We focus on the Dallas-Fort Worth area so that categories, city pages, and search results stay locally relevant instead of spreading thin across the whole country.
- Consistent categorization: businesses are grouped into clear service categories and cities so you can browse and compare like with like.
- Quality-first ordering: results are ordered using ratings, review volume, and profile completeness. Payment does not buy a higher rank. See How We Rank Businesses for the full methodology.
- Real reviews only: we surface genuine customer reviews and work to detect and remove fraudulent ones. We do not write or invent reviews.
- Everything stays browsable: quality determines order, not whether a business is shown at all.
3What Our Verification Labels Actually Mean
We use a small set of labels so you know how much a listing has been confirmed. We keep these definitions precise on purpose, so a label never implies more than it means.
- Unclaimed: the listing is built from public business information and has not been claimed by its owner. Details may be incomplete.
- Claimed: a business owner has claimed the listing and can manage its details. Claiming confirms control of the listing, not a quality judgment.
- Trusted and Verified (Vetted): the business owner account has been verified through our owner verification process.
- Identity Verified: the owner completed an additional identity verification step.
- Certified: the professional provided credentials indicating a licensed or certified profession.
- Vetted Business: business registration information was checked as part of our vetting process.
- Premium: a set of paid business tools such as booking and analytics. Premium is a toolset, not a ranking boost or a quality endorsement.
4Keeping Listings Current
Listings are refreshed as business owners update their own information and as public data is re-synced over time. Owner-claimed listings tend to be the most current, because the owner maintains them directly. We do not guarantee that every unclaimed listing reflects the latest hours, pricing, or availability, so we always encourage confirming details with the business before you visit.
5Corrections, Claims, and Removals
We want listings to be accurate, and we make it straightforward to fix or control them:
Claim your listing
If you own a business, you can claim its listing to manage details, add services, and respond to customers.
Report an error
Spotted wrong hours, a closed business, or an inaccurate detail? Email support@thelocalgem.com and we will review it.
Request removal
Business owners can ask to have an unclaimed listing removed. We honor reasonable removal requests.
Flag a review
If a review looks fake or violates our policies, tell us and we will investigate.
